What's new in version 5.0

Safe Access 5.0 has been designed specifically to make our purpose-built network access control faster, more powerful, and have greater ease of administration and deployment. New capabilities include:

  • New GUI capabilities — The user interface simplifies deployment and provides easy access to many functions usually reserved for backend configuration. GUI features include system management for backup and recovery, adding new Enforcement Servers, generating support packages, and setting a range of IP addresses that can be enforced, monitored or ignored.

  • More testing — Safe Access now is able to cover both Windows and Macintosh (both Power PC and Intel-based) endpoint devices.

  • Centralized management of multi-node deployments — v5.0 introduces a scalable multi-node architecture, where a single Management Server controls numerous Enforcement Servers. This architecture allows multiple enforcement options to be blended within a single implementation. It provides a single-pane-of-glass view into endpoint security across the enterprise and allows administrators to centrally manage all Safe Access activities.

  • Multi-user, role-based access — In larger deployments numerous individuals, each with varying responsibilities, typically require access to information within Safe Access. Version 5.0's role-based access enables system administrators to meticulously control who has access to the data, the functions they are allowed to perform, and the information they can view and act on. Role-based access ensures the integrity of the enterprise-wide Safe Access deployment and creates the separation of duties that conforms to security best-practices.

  • High availability and load balancing — A multi-server Safe Access deployment is mutually supporting. Should one server fail, other nodes within a cluster will automatically provide coverage for the affected network segment. Likewise a spike in testing activity directed at a single Safe Access server is load-balanced across the cluster.
